Getting started
A published example is useful for exploring the formula. If you have annual load figures and a rate from your electricity bill, enter those instead.
Pick one of three DOE/FEMP examples, or enter annual heating and cooling loads from your own analysis. The examples are not house estimates.
Use your state's EIA 2025 residential average, or type a rate from your bill. Picking a state changes the price only.
Enter SEER2 and HSPF2 for each proposed system. The five- and ten-year totals appear only when you enter both installed quotes.
